-Describe the difference between wilderness first aid and standard first aid
-Describe the importance of immediately establishing control of the scene and starting the primary assessment
-Discuss the importance of doing a secondary assessment

-Demonstrate a field assessment for injuries to the head
-Define types of abdominal pain and discomfort including gastroenteritis (stomachache) and diarrhea
-Describe the basics of an allergic response and its treatment and prevention
-Define altitude illnesses including acute mountain sickness (AMS), high altitude cerebral edema (HACE) and high altitude pulmonary edema (HAPE)
-Define types of burn injuries
-Demonstrate a field assessment of a person with a chest injury
-Describe the contents of an adequate wilderness and remote first aid kit, and its uses
-Define the different types of heat-related illnesses

-Understand how emergency medical services works and when to call
-Breathing emergencies, conscious and unconscious choking, and cardiac
  emergencies
-Know how and when to move a victim
-How to provide CPR or rescue breathing until EMS arrives
-First aid: Shock, bleeding, soft tissue and musculoskeletal injuries, sudden
  illness, poisoning, bites, stings, heat and cold emergencies.
Ages: 14 and up.-Includes participant’s manual, certification cards, face shield.
Certification:-Must attend all class hours and pass written and practical exams with at
  least an 80%. CPR/AED & First Aid certifications valid 2 years.

Top-Surveillance and rescue skills, how to prevent injuries
-First aid training and professional rescuer CPR/AED
-Oxygen Adminstration training
-Professional lifeguard responsibilities
** Epinephrine Auto Injector and Asthma Inhaler Training can also be

-Must complete a continuous 300 yard swim (100 yard freestyle, 100 yard
  breaststroke, 100 yard any combination of freestyle and
  breaststroke)
-Must swim 25 yards, retrieve a 10 lb brick from a depth of 8 feet, swim 25
  yards with the brick using legs only, and exit the pool without using a
  ladder or stairs within a minute and 40 seconds.
Ages: Must be 15 years old by the end of the course. Proof of age will be required  on the first day.
-Must attend all class hours and pass written and practical exams with at
  least an 80%. Lifeguarding 3 year certification, First Aid & CPR/AED
  for the Lifeguard 2 year certification, Oxygen Administration & Universal Precautions valid
  for 1 year.
-$250 includes participant's manual, rescue mask, and certification cards.
-A $75 non-refundable deposit is required to hold a spot in this class. This
  deposit will be put towards the total if you pass the pre-requisites.
Those under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian come with them to the first class to sign waivers. Payment must also be made by the end of the pre-requisite swim. If you do not pass the pre-requisite swim, the $50 deposit will only be assessed.
Please bring a bathing suit and towel to every class. Please also bring clothes that you are comfortable being on the floor in. There will be a dinner break during the weekday classes. Please bring dinner/snacks/waterbottle.
-How to supervise around water, prevent drowning and diving accidents,
  and recognize when someone is in distress
-Improve swimming techniques and endurance in order to become a
  lifeguard
-Perform self rescues, assist others that are distressed in the water
-Provide basic first aid, CPR, AED
-Learn leadership skills, communication, teamwork, and informed decision
  making necessary to become a lifeguard
-Learn how to search and apply for a job and prepare for an interview
-25 yards freestyle breathing to the front or side, tread water for 1 minute
  using arms and legs, swim 10 feet submerged underwater
Ages: 11 - 14-A certificate of attendance with no expiration issued at the end of the
  course
-available for elementary aged children. A participant certification will be
  issued.
General Water Safety-great for those around pools, lakes, rivers, spas, and waterparks. A
  certification of attendance can be issued.
Home Pool Safety-addresses basic lifesaving techniques and safety precautions that
  should be taken when hosting a pool party. A certification
  of attendance can be issued.
