-How to respond to emergency situations and activate the emergency
  action plan and EMS effectively
-Determine if a victim is conscious or unconscious and how to move a
  victim in an emergency situation.
-Situations covered: shock, soft tissue and musculoskeletal injuries, sudden
  illness, poisoning, bites and stings, heat and cold emergencies
** Epinephrine Auto Injector and Asthma Inhaler Training can also be
  added on as an additional optional lesson.**
** This class combines great with CPR/AED!**
Ages: 12 and up. Note: Those ages 12-14 must attend the class with a parent.- Must attend all class hours and pass written and practical exams with at
  least an 80%. First Aid certification valid 3 years. The epinephrine
  auto injector certification is 1 year, and the asthma inhaler training
  certification has no expiration.
-Define wilderness first aid
-Describe the difference between wilderness first aid and standard first aid
-Describe the importance of immediately establishing control of the scene and starting the primary assessment
-Discuss the importance of doing a secondary assessment
-Discuss calling for help from a delayed-help perspective and evacuation considerations
-Demonstrate a field assessment for injuries to the head
-Define types of abdominal pain and discomfort including gastroenteritis (stomachache) and diarrhea
-Describe the basics of an allergic response and its treatment and prevention
-Define altitude illnesses including acute mountain sickness (AMS), high altitude cerebral edema (HACE) and high altitude pulmonary edema (HAPE)
-Define types of burn injuries
-Demonstrate a field assessment of a person with a chest injury
-Describe the contents of an adequate wilderness and remote first aid kit, and its uses
-Define the different types of heat-related illnesses
-Describe the mechanisms of heat loss versus heat gain
-Demonstrate a field assessment for injuries to bones and joints
-Define shock and discuss the stages of shock
-Define heart attack
-Define serious bleeding and demonstrate control of bleeding
-Describe briefly the general sequence of events during a submersion (drowning) incident
-Describe how lightning can cause injury and/or death
** Epinephrine Auto Injector and Asthma Inhaler Training can also be

Certification:-Must attend all class hours and pass written and practical exams with at
  least an 80%. Wilderness and Remote First Aid certification
  valid 2 years. The epinephrine auto injector certification is 1 year,
  and the asthma inhaler training certification has no expiration.
-Understand how emergency medical services works and when to call
-Breathing emergencies, conscious and unconscious choking, and cardiac
  emergencies
-Know how and when to move a victim
-How to provide CPR or rescue breathing until EMS arrives
-First aid: Shock, bleeding, soft tissue and musculoskeletal injuries, sudden
  illness, poisoning, bites, stings, heat and cold emergencies.
** Epinephrine Auto Injector and Asthma Inhaler Training can also be
  added on as an additional optional lesson.**
Ages: 14 and up.-Includes participant’s manual, certification cards, face shield.
Certification:-Must attend all class hours and pass written and practical exams with at
  least an 80%. CPR/AED certification valid 1 year, First Aid certification
  valid 3 years. The epinephrine auto injector certification is 1 year,
  and the asthma inhaler training certification has no expiration.
-How to provide a safe environment for adult athletes while participating in
  sports.
-How to respond to an emergency breathing and cardiac emergencies, to
  help sustain life and minimize the consequences of injury or
  sudden illness until medical help arrives.
-How the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) system works and the coach's
  role in the EMS system, including how and when to call EMS
  personnel
-The coach's safety responsibilities and how they impact injury prevention
  for athletes
-Eliminate/minimize potentially hazardous conditions that may place
  athletes, coaches,officials and spectators at risk of injury
-Adult rescue breathing and first aid for choking
-Possible heart attack signs and care
-Adult CPR
-First aid including: bleeding, shock, various soft tissue and musculoskeletal
  injuries sudden illness, poisoning, bites and stings, heat and cold
  emergencies
-Know when and how to move an athlete in an emergency situation.
Ages: 15 and up-Must attend all class hours and pass written and practical exams with at
  least an 80%. Adult CPR valid for 1 year and Sport Safety
  Training/First Aid valid for 3 years.
